Lady Tide, Lady Hornets win

Both Picayune and Poplarville cam up with big region wins in prep slow pitch softball action Thursday night.
The Lady Hornets knocked off Forrest County AHS on the road 14-1, as Sam genrty got the win.
The Lady Hornets, the defending Class 4A state champions, are 9-5 overall and 4-1 in league play and they stand in second place in the standings one game behind Columbia.
Gntry also had a big game at the plate against the Lady Aggies, getting three hits including a pair of doubles and she also drove in three runs.
Miranda fazende also chipped in three hits to the winning effort, while Ashton Rodgers and Chlesea Barrett added two hits apiece.
The Lady Hornets played in the Meridian Tournament on Saturday and will host Greene County in league play on Tuesday.
• The Lady Tide beat West Harrison 6-0 to take sole possession of first place in the region.
Sarah Dodd got the pitching win, as the Lady Tide moved to 3-0 in league play and 12-5 overall.
Jennifer Walker led the hit parade with three hits including a triple, while Hillary Dickens had three hits as well as did Jessica rancifer who also had a triple. Tee Myers added two hits including a double and Clarissa Jones had a double as well.
The Lady Tide hosts Long Beach on Tuesday in division play.
