Ichan appears before Gaming Commission

Mississippi gaming regulators have met with billionaire investor Carl Icahn, who’s purchase of Tropicana Casino and Resort included two Mississippi casinos.

Ichan’s purchase of the bankrupt Tropicana, which was finalized in March, included the Horizon in Vicksburg and Jubilee in Greenville.

Although his application for a license to operate the casinos was previously approved, Gaming Commission executive director Larry Gregory said regulations required Icahn to appear as part of the process.

Ichan met with commission members Thursday in Biloxi.

The 74-year-old Ichan wasn’t specific about any plans for development of his Mississippi casinos.
