Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 1 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel for Betty Lou Goutierez, of Picayune, who passed away peacefully Saturday September 18, 2010 in Picayune.

Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. John Williams will officiate at the service.

A native of Mt. Lebanon, La., she was a Sales Director with Best Western Hotels. Betty was a high school basketball star in Crystal Spings, Miss. and also played semi-professional basketball in New Orleans, La. Betty was a great cook, loving wife and mother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Betty enjoyed the Sirius Radio in the truck and going to the Picayune Sonic Drive In. Betty loved to sit in the swing on the Pearl River bluff at home.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Walter Lewis and Mary Lida Blake Lewis; three brothers, Walter Lewis Jr., Dennis Lewis, and Marion Lewis; and one sister, Ruth Hood.

Survivors include: her husband of 28 years, Col. Leon E. Goutierez of Picayune; her children, Wayne Eidson, Joni (Rick) Anne Ledbetter, Sherri Gravois, and Terese Kay Robert; five grandchildren, Anthony Gravois, Sean Peebles, Jennifer Belsome, Trey Ledbetter and his fiance’ Amy, and Stephen Ledbetter; two great-grandchildren, Nola Rose Gravois and Mia Belsome; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

The family would like to especially thank St. Joseph’s Hospice Staff, the Batallion Washington Artillery, and the many family members and friends that have been so kind and loving during her suffering and our loss of Betty “Little Bird”.
