Former employees of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport can learn about job opportunities at the new facility during a public meeting next week.

The former home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. A newly rebuilt, $194.4 million home will open this fall.

U.S. Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker and U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor said in a news release Friday that the facility’s opening will be a major step in Katrina recovery.
