Authorities says one person died and another was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident in Pass Christian.

Police say the wreck happened Monday after the driver of a car, who has not yet been identified, lost control of the vehicle on a curve, ran off the road, and hit a tree.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said 18-year-old Rebecca Speck, of Gulfport, was in the backseat of the car and was ejected upon impact. Hargrove said Speck died at the scene.

Another passenger in the car, who was not identified, was taken a Gulfport hospital with serious injuries.
