Suspect in Hancock Co. machete death indicted

A man accused of butchering Bay St. Louis man and burning his body parts will be arraigned in Hancock County Circuit Court on Aug. 12.
A Hancock County grand jury has indicted Christopher Joseph Smith for the 2009 murder of 54-year-old William Terry Self.
Smith allegedly killed Self with a machete.
Smith was one of three people arrested in connection with the murder that occurred the weekend of March 21.
The other suspects were charged with accessories after the fact for knowing about the murder and not notifying police and also for helping dispose of parts of Self’s body.
Smith has been in the Pearl River County jail since his arrest.
It was not immediately known whether Smith has an attorney.
