A commemorative plaque honoring the military service and sacrifice of Staff Sgt. William “Seth” Ricketts will be placed at the CARE Honor Garden in Corinth on Sunday.

Ricketts, a U.S. Army paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, died Feb. 27 in Bala Murghab, Afghanistan, when his unit was attacked by insurgents. The plaque will include his paratrooper insignia.

Gentry Parker and Bobby McDaniel launched a fundraising drive for the family soon after Ricketts’ death in which florists donated yellow bows that were sold throughout Alcorn County for $5 each.
