A wrecking crew on Wednesday will start demolishing a former dormitory at Mississippi State University.

Suttle Hall was built in 1967 and closed after the 2006-2007 school year.

The nine-story building at one time housed 599 students a year on the Starkville campus. It was named for N.D. Suttle, former professor of agronomy and head of the State Seed Testing Laboratory.

MSU President Mark Keenum is working on master plan for the campus, and a university spokesman says there are no immediate plans for new construction on the site of Suttle Hall.

The university says bricks from the former dorm will be made available to the public once the demolition is finished.
