Developer upset over proposed water issue

Editor,

I’m sick and tired of reading how developers and landlords are ripping off the city for water and sewer bills.

It’s time for the truth to come out. I pay for the water and sewer my tenants use. What they’re trying to do is charge a monthly rate to each tenant. What they’re not telling you is they will double their revenues by doing this.

To have a meter on every unit will cost $550 per unit plus $100 to have it turned on. At this point I pay for every gallon of water used and returned. The city takes a reading on the 11th of every month.

My tenants are mostly retirees on fixed incomes and it’s my job to keep expenses down. So I can’t see how Wayne Gouguet and the city council think I and other developers are ripping anyone off. Maybe it’s the city council and utility department that are doing the ripping off.

All we are asking is to pay for what we use, not some socialistic plan where we all pay one flat rate.
