A 58-year-old Adams County man has drowned during a weekend fishing trip.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield says Walter Patterson drowned when the boat he was fishing in with his wife overturned Saturday in a pond.

Mayfield says when deputies arrived on the scene Patterson was unresponsive, on his back, at the edge of the water.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene.
