A pair of traffic stops recently conducted by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of four suspects.
All alleged crimes dealt with methamphetamine related charges.
The first traffic stop was conducted on May 9. Using information provided to the department concerning alleged narcotics activity being conducted by the occupants of the vehicle narcotics investigators conducted a stop on 49 year-old Rex Moak, of 1400 Palestine Rd., Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said. In the vehicle’s passenger seat was Sheila Cresong, 45, also of 1400 Palestine Rd.
Saucier said during the stop a search of the vehicle was conducted where investigators found several chemicals commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Both suspects were charged with possession of precursor chemicals.
The second traffic stop took place during the early morning hours on Friday. During a night watch that morning patrol deputies observed a black Mustang with a headlight out. A traffic stop was performed for the equipment violation. Deputy Daniel Quave identified the driver as Charles St. Amand, 30, of 8 King Rd., Carriere, who was found to have an outstanding warrant for grand larceny. His passenger was identified as 41 year-old Rhonda Wells, of 621 McNeill Henleyfield Rd.
A search of St. Amand found about 20 pseudoephedrine pills in a plastic bag, which is a common ingredient used to manufacture methamphetamine, Saucier said. In the vehicle deputies found a white powder substance on the passenger side front seat, which field tests showed tested positive for methamphetamine.
In Wells’ purse deputies found four Lortabs, two Somas and three Valiums.
Both Wells and St. Amand were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. St. Amand was additionally charged with the warrant and improper equipment for the missing headlight, Saucier said.
