Blues guitarist Lil’ Dave Thompson died over the weekend in a van accident in South Carolina, according to the musician’s Web site.

The Highway Patrol confirmed Thompson was killed in an accident Sunday in Aiken County, S.C. He was 43.

According to reports, Thompson and his band were returning home to Greenville, Miss., after performing at an event in Sullivan’s Island, S.C., when the accident occurred on Interstate 20 in Aiken County.

County Coroner Tim Carlton says two fellow band members were not seriously hurt.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete, according to officials with Rowland Funeral Home in Indianola.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; five children; six sisters and four brothers.
