Tide knocks off PRC in soccer

Picayune knocked off rival Pearl River Central 5-2 in boys prep soccer action Tuesday night.
The Maroon Tide got a pair of goals each from Blake Haas and Tyler Topey in the win and Leo Gonzalez added a goal as well.
Picayune stands 8-2-1 on the season with the win, while the Blue Devils dropped to 8-3 overall and 1-2 in league play.
For PRC, Jacob Foulon scored one goal and his brother Jared Foulon recorded the other goal.
Lady Tide hoops
GULFPORT — Picayune’s girls pulled out a 66-41 win over homestanding West Harrison on Tuesday.
The Lady Tide were led by Andrea Jackson’s 17 points while Keanna Magee added 16, Sharonda Jackson had 13, and Melody McGill finished with 12 points.
With the win, Picayune stands 12-4 on the year.
Both the Lady Tide and the Maroon Tide travel to Wayne County Friday night.
Hornet Hoops
PURVIS — Poplarville’s Hornets picked up their first Region 8-4A win of the season Tuesday, beating homestanding Purvis 68-51.
The Hornets got 16 points from Jalen Raine and 14 points from David Gilmore in the win, that pushed the Hornets to 4-10 on the year. The Hornets and the Lady Hornets travel to Bay High Friday.
