A former Mississippi heart surgeon who later opened a medical marijuana clinic in California has been denied bail.
Jackson County circuit judge turned down Dr. David Bruce Allen’s request for bail in documents made public Monday.
The case has been sent to a grand jury for possible indictment. The 53-year-old Allen remains in the county jail.
Allen was first charged in February with cultivation of marijuana and selling hashish while in possession of a firearm following a drug raid of his property. He was released on $100,000 bail.
New charges were filed against Allen on Dec. 15 that included witness tampering and bribery as well as attempting to induce perjury. His bond was revoked.
