Toys for Tykes will hold its 20th annual motorcycle run Saturday, which will feature Santa Claus on a motorcycle.

The ride will begin at the Picayune National Guard Armory on U.S. 11 near Friendship Park, at 10 a.m. Saturday. At 11 a.m., participants in the ride will leave the armory and head towards the city’s Historic City Hall on Goodyear Boulevard. The purpose of the event is to collect toy donations for needy children in Pearl River County.

To participate in the event, each rider should bring either an unwrapped boy or girl toy or a $10 donation to the armory.

At the historic city hall there will be a ceremony that will honor all veterans, said Pearl River County Toys for Tykes Coordinator Tony Tarver. The public is invited to participate in the ride, or, “Come by and watch Santa ride by on his motorcycle,” Tarver said.

Picayune High School’s Navy NJROTC members will raise the flag during the ceremony, Sons of Confederate Veterans will have their cannon on hand and Ron Martin with the Louisiana Fallen Warriors will emcee the memorial ceremony, Tarver said.

After the ceremony and other festivities at the Historic City Hall Veteran’s Memorial, the ride will head out to the local VFW where each rider will be treated to free food, Tarver said.
