JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Nicholas Parker rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns and South Panola tied the most points scored in a Mississippi title game in defeating Oak Grove 56-14 Friday night, snatching the first MHSAA Class 6A state championship and winning the Tigers’ eighth title.

South Panola (14-1) used its patented bulldozing running game to rack up 387 yards on the ground on 52 carries, storming out to a 35-0 halftime lead as sheets of snow blanketed Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers’ 56 points tied the state record held by Stringer (1992) and Smithville (1998).
