A two-month investigation on Wednesday netted the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department a suspect charged with the possession of large amounts of marijuana and cocaine.

Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier said that after the department received information concerning Anthony Roger Pizzoloto Jr. allegedly being involved in narcotics activity, department investigators began their investigation. Through various investigative techniques the investigators were able to secure a search warrant for the home of 41 year-old Pizzoloto, who lives at 2813 Dixie Dr. in Picayune.

Armed with the search warrant, investigators, accompanied by agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, served the warrant on Wednesdayand found about five pounds of marijuana, 11 ounces of cocaine and a handgun. All of the narcotics were individually packaged for resale, Saucier said.

About $40,000 worth of items were seized from the home during theoperation, including two vehicles, five ATVs, a 24-foot enclosed trailer, seven flat screen televisions and some stereo equipment. The items were seized because investigators believe that they were purchased with money acquired through the sale of narcotics, Saucier said.

Pizzoloto was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Information concerning the charges on which Pizzoloto was previouslyconvicted was not available because the Sheriff’s Department does not to release information on prior charges or convictions of suspects.
