Ocean Springs officials are considering extending the city’s boundaries by annexing about 13 square miles of county land east of the city limits.

The fringe area under consideration will affect about 1,300 Jackson County residents.

The annexation ordinance will be discussed at Tuesday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting.

Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran said the city will soon hold public meetings so residents can voice their opinions about the city’s decision to annex the land.

If supervisors and the courts approve the annexation ordinance, residents will pay city, county and school district taxes.
