A Laurel man has been charged with manslaughter in the hit-and-run crash that killed a 5-year-old boy.

Jones County Sheriff Alex Hodge said that Dominic Gebben was arrested and charged with manslaughter and felony fleeing the scene shortly after the incident on Friday.

Hodge says Gebben allegedly drove away from the scene and later was caught by Jones County deputies. Hodge says Gebben was in the line of traffic behind a stopped bus. Hodge says the suspect allegedly pulled out of the traffic while the child was getting off the bus. Authorities have not released the name of the victim.

Gebben’s first appearance is scheduled for Monday.
