Funeral services for L.N. Formby, Jr. were held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in McDonald Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial was in the New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Lourie N. Formby, Jr., passed away Friday, December 4, 2009; he was 78 years old and a native of Picayune. L.N. was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lourie N. (Bertha) Formby, Sr. and a 1950 graduate of Picayune Memorial High School. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Class of 1959, he was a civil engineer. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Formby Dailey.

Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Patricia Stuart Formby of Picayune; sons, Mark Stuart (Rita) Formby and Lourie N. (Julie) Formby III, all of Picayune; daughters, Anne Phyllis Formby (Bill) Hutton of Fairfax, Va., and Amy Lourin Formby (David) MacDougall of Houston, Texas; sisters, Hilda Formby Hoffmann, Mary Ellen Formby Davis, and Sara Lynn Formby Huffman, all of Picayune; sister, Frances Formby Beeson of League City, Texas; and brother, Ira Ned Formby Sr. of Picayune. He is also survived by: nine grandchildren: William K. Hutton II, Jackson Formby Hutton, Samuel Stuart Hutton, Abigail Kathryn MacDougall, Marian Frances MacDougall, Emma Caroline MacDougall, Rebekah Elisabeth Formby, Eli Stuart Formby, and Ella Marie Formby.
