The state Parole Board has denied parole for Otis Lee Fairley, one of four men convicted in the 1981 slaying of a Mississippi state trooper.

Fairley is serving a life sentence.

It’s the second time in five months the board has denied parole for one of the men sentenced in Billy Langham’s death. The board earlier denied parole for Charles Montgomery Jr., who was convicted of firing the fatal shot.

Langham was making a routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 49 near Collins when he was stabbed and shot to death by four assailants.

One of the other men convicted in Langham’s death, Samuel Johnson, died in prison.

Anthony Fields released in 1989. He testified for the prosecution against Montgomery.
