Hood: Phony e-mail seeks passwords, user names

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood is warning people about an e-mail scam.

In a news release, Hood said the scam involves an e-mail that reportedly uses a Hotmail address and asks recipients for information such as user names and passwords, claiming they’re needed to restore records to a database.

The phony e-mail goes on to claim that the user’s account will be closed if that person doesn’t provide the information.
