Dan Eugene Crowell

Dan Eugene Crowell, 57, of Slidell, Louisiana passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 19, 2009.
Dan, a native of Long Beach, California, moved to Mississippi in 1967 and graduated from Picayune High School in 1970. Dan served in the Mississippi National Guard in Picayune, Mississippi from 1973 to 1979. Dan attended Pearl River Community College and Santa Barbara City College receiving an Associate Science Degree in Marine Technology and a Commercial Diving Certification in 1979. He moved to Louisiana to begin his career in the oil fields as a diver. Dan was employed in the commercial diving industry for more than 20 years. Additionally, Dan was employed to supervise clean up activities from hurricanes and flooding in Miami, Florida and Iowa.
Dan was preceded in death by: his father, Robert W. Crowell and step-mother, Ginger Crowell.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Remington; sisters, Joyce Losey and Donna (Al) Smith; half-brothers and sisters, Steve Remington, Carolyn (Bob) Smith, Robert (Marlene) Crowell, Sandy (Larry) Demarse, James Crowell; step-sisters and brothers, Lois (Ronnie) Dossett, Paula (Jim) Ford, Larry (Aleta) Hinkle, Jerri (Richard) Pinkston; and twenty-two nieces and nephews.
Dan enjoyed diving, fishing, waterskiing, sports, and traveling with his friends and family. He will be missed not only by his family, but all who had been touched by his friendship. Don’t think of Dan as gone away; his journey has just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 30 at 9 a.m. followed immediately with a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. James Reeves officiating.
