Imprisoned ex-lawyer Paul Minor and two former Mississippi judges will be re-sentenced because a federal appeals court vacated their convictions on bribery charges.

The court affirmed the three men’s convictions on several other corruption counts.

Minor was one of Mississippi’s most successful attorneys. He and Harrison County judges John Whitfield and Wes Teel were convicted in a judicial bribery scandal in 2007.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday threw out their convictions on bribery charges, but upheld others, including mail and wire fraud.

Minor’s racketeering convictions also were affirmed.

The court ordered new sentencings, but it was not immediately clear how much their prison terms may be shortened.
