Bond has been denied for a Jackson man accused of dousing a woman with flammable fluid and setting her on fire.
Wade Lewis, 49, made his initial appearance Tuesday in municipal court.
He’s accused in the Saturday attack on his girlfriend, Shirley Clayton. Jackson chief fire investigator Greg Travis said the department’s arson division has charged Lewis with aggravated assault and arson. Travis said Lewis is also being held on outstanding warrants.
Travis said the 52-year-old Clayton was in fair condition at the burn center in Augusta, Ga. She suffered burns on more than 40 percent of her body.
