William Sidney Simmons, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Amy Lynn Bennett Simmons, loving father of Jennifer Ann Simmons. Son of the late Daisy Stewart Jewell and William Sidney Simmons, Sr. Brother of Ray Merle Simmons, Robert Van Smith and Buddy Clark. Brother-in-law of Amos Kent Bennett III and Leslie Ann Bennett Mills. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Simmons taught at Covington High School for 33 years. He received his BS in Education from University of Southern Mississippi and his Masters of Administration from the University of Southeastern Louisiana. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during Viet Nam and a member of the American Legion. He was also an employee of Tugy’s for 20 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a funeral service at McDonald Funeral Home, 401 W. Canal Street, Picayune, MS 39466 on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 12 noon with a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time.

Interment will follow in New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to The St. Tammany Humane Society.
