The Pearl River CC Lady Wildcats fell to Baton Rouge Monday afternoon 87-68 Monday afternoon in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic at Perkinston.

The Lady Wildcats dropped to 5-3 on the season with the loss.

Brittany Weathers scored 16 points and had nine rebounds for PRCC while Olivia Magee added 16 as well and Shandell Peters 14. It was the second time in the past three weeks that BRCC had beaten PRCC.

Pearl River’s women conclude their Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic action Tuesday against East Mississippi at 12 noon.

Following the Thanksgiving holiday, PRCC’s women and men return home to host Baton Rouge Monday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men) in Shivers Gymnasium on the PRCC campus in Poplarville.

On Saturday, the Lady Wildcats beat Wallace-Selma on the road 67-59.

Magee had 18 for the winners, while Peters added 14 points and seven rebounds and Sam Fairley had nine rebounds.

Also, the Wildcats beat Wallace-Selma 84-67.

The win pushed PRCC to 5-2 on the year.

Phillip Crawford poured in a game high 33 points and had seven rebounds for the Wildcats, while Rod Little added 17 points and Emil Jones 10 tp the winning cause while Kenderek Washington also had seven rebounds.

It was the second time in three weeks that PRCC had swept WSCC.

And, Pearl River Community College swept Holmes CC for the second time this basketball season with the Lady Wildcats pulling off an 83-66 victory and the Wildcats winning 82-59 on Thursday.

PRCC also grabbed a pair of victories from HCC in Goodman on Nov. 9 with the women winning 77-57 and the men 72-69.

In the women’s game, for Pearl River, Brittany Weathers of Oak Grove hit 19 points and grabbed 13 boards — both game-high totals — while Epps added 16 (seven rebounds), Magee 16 (eight rebounds, four blocked shots), Nicole Holder of Lumberton High 10 and Charlene Green of South Pike High nine.

.In men’s action, Phillip Crawford of Mobile, Ala., paced the Wildcats with a game-high 24 points (five rebounds), while Kenderek Washington of Hinds AHS added 14 (six rebounds) Zach Vickers of Laurel Hill, Fla., 12 (six-for-six from the field) and Emil Jones of North Forrest had eight points and five steals.

After hosting Baton Rouge, both PRCC teams open their MACJC South Division schedule against arch-rival Jones County in Ellisville Thursday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. (women) and 8 p.m. (men).
