A Pascagoula man has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for claiming Hurricane Katrina assistance on a house he owned, but did not live in.

Todd Northrop also must be a $3,000 fine and about $21,000 in restitution to the federal government.

Prosecutors say Northrop filed false applications with both the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state and the Mississippi Development Authority, claiming he was displaced from his residence. The house was rented to another family at the time of Hurricane Katrina.
