A judge has remanded to the file misdemeanor charges against a longtime McComb police officer.

The Enterprise-Journal of McComb reports the action by Amite County Judge Roger Arnold means the case against Mark Anderson is closed for now, but it doesn’t dismiss the charges.

Anderson was charged with joyriding and impersonating a police officer. The charges stem from an incident on Sept. 16, when Anderson went to police headquarters for the a shift change, got into a patrol car and left. At the time, police officials said that he had quit the department, but McComb Mayor Zach Patterson said Anderson had not resigned.
