The Jones County Sheriff’s Department says two escaped inmates remain at large.

Sheriff Alex Hodge says 33-year-old Claude Johnson and 17-year-old Ira Hadley Jr., both of Laurel, jumped over the recreation yard fence Friday afternoon at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility.

He says both may have been cut or otherwise injured.

Deputies were still looking for both men Saturday.

Both were awaiting trial. Johnson is charged with stealing 11 long guns from Xtreme Outfitter and electronic equipment from Pawn and Trade, where Laurel Police arrested him in a bathroom. Hadley is accused of armed robbery.

Hodge said both suspects will now face an additional escape charge.
