Some businesses near the Ross Barnett Reservoir and the Reservoir’s governing board hope Rankin County supervisors will allow Sunday beer sales.

Prohibited in most of the county, Pearl River Valley Water Supply District officials have asked supervisors to amend the beer ordinance for the district. The board of supervisors meets Thursday.

Madison County businesses just across the spillway can sell beer on Sunday.

Rankin officials discussed the proposal last month. Originally, they discussed allowing waterfront businesses only, but later settled on allowing all businesses within the Reservoir area.
