The Salvation Army on Thursday will open its new 35,000-square-foot disaster command center and warehouse.
The center, located in Jackson, will serve operations from Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. It includes an emergency operations center, warehouse space for disaster deployment support and storage for a new field kitchen and support vehicles.
Maj. Gene Hogg, divisional secretary for three-state operation, said the warehouse is an important step in the expanding ministry of disaster response and relief work.
Mississippi Emergency Management Agency director Mike Womack is among the guests invited to the event.
