An operation by the Picayune Police Department led to the arrest of two female suspects on the charge of prostitution.

The operation took place Wednesday and involved investigators making a vice sting on the east side of the city, according to a press release from the Picayune Police Department.

Tonia Ryals, 34 and Shannon Morrison, 29, both of Picayune, were charged, in separate incidents, with prostitution after allegedly soliciting an informant working with the Picayune Police Department’s Narcotics Division, the release states.

Investigators report in the release that they monitored conversations between the informant and the women as they discussed the price of various sexual acts. After the women accepted payment in exchange for the sexual acts during the two separate stings, the investigators moved in and arrested the suspects.

In both instances investigators recovered department documented money from the suspects. The release states that Ryals has an extensive arrest history, which includes prior prostitution charges. She was on probation at the time of her arrest.

Ryals is now being held on an MDOC warrant.
