Mississippi casino revenue down a bit

JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi’s state-licensed casinos saw their September winnings from gamblers fall 2.8 percent from a year ago, even though business was up slightly along the Gulf Coast.

The Mississippi State Tax Commission says the casinos took in $186.6 million last month, compared with $192.2 million in September 2008

Casinos along the Mississippi River — including Tunica, Vicksburg and Natchez — won $101.5 million last month, down from $107.5 million in September 2008. Casinos along the Mississippi Gulf Coast won $85.3 million last month, up slightly from $84.7 million in September 2008.

In August, the casinos won $205.2 million.
