Mississippi residents have until Friday to file a claim in the state’s settlement with software giant Microsoft.

Mississippi received $40 million of the $100 million-plus when it announced the settlement in June. The remaining $60 million is set aside for people, schools and businesses, who must file for the money.

Mississippi residents eligible to receive benefits from the settlement must have bought specific computer programs by Microsoft or a personal computer with one of those programs on it between Jan. 1, 1996 and June 11, 2009. It must have been bought to use in Mississippi, and not for resale.
