Law enforcement officers say they’ve arrested a gang leader wanted in a 2008 Christmas Day slaying in Mississippi.
The U.S. Marshals Service says its officers, working with Dallas police, arrested Saheed Davis on Tuesday at a hotel in Dallas. Davis was charged with murder in the slaying of Maurice Warner and was awaiting extradition from Texas to Mississippi.
Warner died after being shot multiple times in Mississippi’s capital city of Jackson.
A news release from the Marshals Service in southern Mississippi called Davis “a known lieutenant in the Vice Lords street gang” in Mississippi. It said the U.S. Justice Department considered Davis one of its most wanted fugitives under an anti-gang program.
