Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 12 noon in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 501 Weems St., Picayune for Herbert Howard Reese, Sr., 84, of Picayune who passed away Monday, October 12, 2009 in Highland Community Hospital.

The Rev. Borzell Langham will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

A native of Bassfield, Miss., he was a Pipefitter for the City of Picayune and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He was a deacon, mason and choir member.

He was preceded in death by: his father and mother, Mr. Grover, Sr. and Dora Reese; brother, Carlis Reese; and sister, Lovonia Harthrone.

Survivors include: his wife, Vera Delores Reese of Picayune; three sons, Herbert Reese Jr. of Louisville, Ky., Dennis Charles Reese of D’Iberville, Miss., and Taron Carol Reese of Picayune; two daughters, Rose May Mitchell of Picayune and Ramona Shaifer of Port Gibson, Miss.; two brothers, Grover Reese Jr. of Texas and Robert Reese of Picayune; one sister, Gustena Dawson of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
