Doris Grubbs Dickens, 80, of Picayune, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 in Lakeview Regional Hospital. She was a native of New Orleans, La., and long-time resident of Picayune. She was the daughter of the late William James and Louella Brown Grubbs; beloved wife of the late Jessie Ray Dickens; mother of: Shelia Dickens Paddock (Ric), Candice Dickens Marquez (Larry), Vanessa Jill Dickens Stamper (David) and the late Gregory Ray Dickens. She was grandmother of eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dickens was a member of First Baptist Church in Picayune, where she was an active member for the past 16 years. She loved being involved in various clubs and organizations – 16 at last count. She enjoyed dancing with her friends at Jeff Orleans. She will be dearly missed. Thanks mom for being a special blessing in so many ways.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airlines Drive, Metairie, LA 70001, Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time, followed by interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund of Picayune.
