Domestic violence conference set

Attorney General Jim Hood will address law enforcement officers, social workers, health care professionals and others in Meridian on Oct. 20 for Care Lodge’s annual conference on domestic violence.

The theme for the 14th annual conference will be “Surviving the Violence: Working with Victims” and will focus on recognizing and supporting victims of abuse.

Other speakers include Connie Sponsler-Garcia with the Battered Women’s Justice Project in Minneapolis, Minn.; and Dr. Susan Eaves with Weems Community Mental Health Center.

Care Lodge provides shelter, advocacy, and assistance to adult victims of domestic violence and their children 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It serves approximately 500 clients every year from Lauderdale, Clarke, Kemper, Neshoba, Newton, Noxubee, Scott, and Winston counties.
