A marijuana bust conducted Monday uncovered about five marijuana plants at a county resident’s home.

The bust led to charges against Jody Wesley, 50, of 8 Denero Dr., for manufacture of marijuana while in possession of firearms.

The operation began after information was provided to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department concerning the possible growing of the plants. Investigators used that information on Monday, accompanied by Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents and National Guard Drug Interdiction agents, to conduct a fly over of the home, said Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier.

In that surveillance operation, the agents were able to identify some marijuana plants growing outside Wesley’s home. Using that information the investigators were able to secure and serve a search warrant.

During the search, five small marijuana plants were found and recovered. Inside the home investigators found about 67 grams of marijuana along with seven firearms consisting of rifles and shotguns.

Wesley was taken into custody and charged with manufacturing marijuana while in possession of firearms.
