Archie Ray McCraney, 71, of Carriere passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10 a.m. at George Ford Baptist Church, with Bro. Doyle Ball officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 2nd from 6 to 9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery, under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

Archie was a pipewelder, loved riding his motorcycle and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of George Ford Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Carriere.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, A. C. and Hazel McCraney; and his late wife, Elizabeth W. McCraney.

He is survived by: his wife, Kay McCraney of Carriere; two sons, Robert M. (Donna) McCraney of Carriere and Joel C. (Stacey) McCraney of Slidell, La.; two stepsons, Brandon Williamson of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Dustin Williamson of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, James McCraney of Carriere and Johnnie McCraney of Kenner, La.; five grandchildren, Kayleb McCraney, Jarrett Cochran, Jenna Cochran, Alexus McCraney and Brett McCraney; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Cochran and Tierston Cochran.

Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
