Greater amberjack will soon be off-limits to sport fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico.

The National Marine Fisheries Service says that the quota of greater amberjack for sport fishermen has been reached. Therefore, the agency says sport fishermen cannot catch the fish for the rest of the year starting Saturday.

Sport fishermen are allowed to catch 1.4 million pounds of greater amberjack in the Gulf each year.
