On Sunday, Sept. 13, the Pearl River County Community Band presented their third concert since their founding. Founded by and directed by Johnny Baker, former Band Director at the Picayune Memorial High School, the band was joined by the newly formed Pearl River Community Chorus. Linda Hancock assists Baker in this new endeavor along with Betty Breeland, who plays the piano during the rehearsals. Although the weather did not cooperate due to the heavy thunderstorms, the auditorium was overflowing with an estimated crowd of 1000 people. The concert was done in honor of and in memory of our veterans and individuals serving in the military. Each of the songs were connected to a certain time in the history of our country when the military was performing special service to our country.
