Leflore County is moving toward making more courthouse records viewable from a computer.

A firm specializing in digitizing maps is scanning the county’s property maps now.

Tax Assessor Leroy Ware said the system will make his office more efficient.

Eventually, the maps will be placed on the Internet for anyone to view. Someone who needs to check their property lines can do it from home rather than making a trip down to the courthouse.

Ware said a good part of the county has been scanned already, and needed equipment is supposed to be installed by October. He said the system should be completed by next year.
