WWII in the Gulf of Mexico talk at UNO

The threat of German U-boats in the Gulf of Mexico during World War II will be the topic of a University of New Orleans Eisenhower Center for American Studies roundtable.

The June 30 discussion will feature C.J. Christ, a U.S. Air Force veteran and author of WWII in the Gulf of Mexico.

Christ, who has written more than 100 articles, served a tour flying B-29s over North Korea before earning an English degree from McNeese State University. A native of Eunice, he founded Houma Aviation which operated at the Houma airport for 25 years. He is also a licensed offshore master of sail and power vessels.

Christ has been a member of the Verband Deutscher U-Bootfahrer, an organization of German submarine veterans, since 1981.
