Petal School District officials will mull over a projected budget that will spend over $40 million in the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
There will be no increase in millage for Petal residents. Chief Financial Officer Sheryle Coaker said reappraisals for homes could cause residents to pay more money, but the rate remains the same.
Coaker reported that a home assessed at $100,000 would pay $573.90 in school taxes. A home assessed at $150,000 would pay $860.85.
The district utilized projections from Gov. Haley Barbour’s office and Senate and House officials to form the budget. District officials said they hope to come somewhere in the middle of the projections.
District officials have until Aug. 15 to approve the budget.
