The state Department of Transportation will hold three meetings this week on its plans for work Mississippi Highway 15.
The meetings will be held Tuesday at the Senior Citizens Center in D’Iberville, on Wednesday at the Stone County Library in Wiggins and on Thursday at the Community Center in Beaumont.
Transportation Commissioner Wayne Brown says MDOT engineer will discuss proposals for the best route for the highway.
The highway currently goes across Harrison County and to Mississippi Highway 26 in Stone County.
Brown says the most likely new route would take it to Mississippi Highway 57 somewhere in George County around McLain and Beaumont and then north.
Brown says the road is needed to serve as an alternate hurricane evacuation route.
