A Lucedale man has been charged with murder in the slaying of his girlfriend.
Jonathan Dwight Havard was being held in the George County jail without bond Tuesday awaiting an initial court appearance.
Sheriff Garry Welford says Havard was arrested this past week after 20-year-old Cassidy Joy Hodges suffered a knife wound at the couple’s home in George County.
Welford says the two lived together and no one else was present when the two reportedly got into a fight. Deputies found Havard and Hodges both suffering from wounds to their necks.
The sheriff says both were flown to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile where Hodges. Havard recovered and was released Saturday when he was arrested and returned to George County.
