Rig kit equipment designed by LeTourneau Technologies in Vicksburg will be used by Vietnam’s state-owned oil and gas exploration company.
The Mississippi-made equipment will be used for a new Super 116-E jack-up for PetroVietnam’s facility in Vung Tau City.
A $40 million contract for construction work on jack-up rig component parts was announced by LeTourneau Technologies parent company, Houston, Texas-based Rowan Companies Inc.
Tubular support rods and access ladders inside the legs will be built at the company’s yard off U.S. Highway 61 South in Vicksburg.
The Super 116-E is designed to drill in up to 350 feet of water in moderate conditions, with the ability to be modified for high temperature and high pressure wells.
