Bond has been denied to 43-year-old Harvey Lewis, who has been charged with capital murder in the slayings of a woman and a child.

Bolivar County Circuit Judge Al Smith also during an initial hearing Wednesday in Cleveland sent the case to a grand jury.

The bodies of 44-year-old Michelle Walker and her granddaughter, 4-year-old Janiya Williams, were found Tuesday along U.S. Highway 61 just north of the Mississippi Delta town of Duncan. Both had been shot.
